Wagner's powerful opera, full of all the drama you could ever wantBy night, they share a perfect passion. But for Princess Isolde and her lover Tristan, every day is any agony of separation. Can they shrug off the bonds of honour and duty that keep them apart? Or is death their only hope of everlasting night?
This is the classic epic drama told on a grand scale – a highlight of the 2015/16 season. Wagner's powerful opera is one of the most significant pieces in the repertoire, from the opening bars of the prelude with its famous Tristan chord. Not only that, but this production is set to blow your socks off. This is ENO's first new offering of Tristan And Isolde since 1996, and is directed by Daniel Kramer – "theatre's most exciting young director" (Daily Telegraph) – with designs from Anish Kapoor, one of the most influential sculptors of his generation. Stick that in your pipes and sing it.
The exceptional cast is led by the outstanding Wagnerian Heldentenor Stuart Skelton as Tristan, with American dramatic soprano Heidi Melton as Isolde.
