Vault Festival 2016: A Bucket Of Blood (Work In Progress)
A new, darkly comic, jazz musical
London’s biggest arts festival is returning: make your way underground for six weeks of creativity, innovation and chaos at Vault Festival. With more than 100 different shows spread across eight incredible venues, you're not going to find anything else like it above or below ground any time soon. Inspired by Roger Corman's classic 1950s horror film, A Bucket Of Blood will show how one man's artistic desire can be murderous – a true feat of clay. The film A Bucket of Blood, by Roger Corman of Little Shop Of Horrors fame, follows the story of Walter, a wannabe artist in a beatnik cafe. Bereft of talent, but hopelessly in love with the idea of being a success, Walter finds he has a skill for sculpture. Unfortunately, the skill he possesses doesn't bode well for the people who sit for him in his studio… This free work-in-progress of a new musical is an early opportunity to see some of the songs and scenes from the show, currently in development by the team who brought the cult hit Shock Treatment to the stage. Drawing jazz influences from Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck and John Coltrane, and laced with Corman's darkly comic sensibility, this show is going to be a scream. The show takes place in the Locker space. Approximate running time: 1 hour. This event is free, but entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. You need to be registered to store the event information in your profile, but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny.
"Sweetly inventive and brazenly original.”
