Workshop Negative

Witness the play Mugabe doesn't want you to see…

It's post independence Zimbabwe 1984, a time when corruption is rife, where ethnic nationals are fighting each other and where socialism is being replaced by rampant capitalism. Two men, and sworn enemies, ex freedom fighter Zulu and white settler Ray, are employed in the tool making workshop of an apparently socialist MP. But is it the MP, mouthing socialism while practicing the most oppressive capitalism, who is Zimbabwe’s real enemy? Workshop Negative was a controversial critique of the abuse of powers that was banned by Mugabe's government. Join Tangle at the Gate Theatre and witness the play Mugabe doesn't want you to see at this London premiere of 2008's Freedom to Create prize. Over 14s only.
