A Queer History Of Fashion: From The Closet To The Catwalk

300 years of stylish duds

"The museum’s journey reflects not just the long process of bringing a guilty secret into the open, but the triumph and tragedy of that trajectory."

- The New York Times (on A Queer History Of Fashion)
The Fashion Institute of Technology worked for over two years on this exhibit collaborating with scholars and fashionistas alike to curate this stunning exhibition of over 100 ensembles rooted in gay history. Ranging from early 18th-century gender bending style to the finest haute couture from designers like Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, and Jean Paul Gaultier, no stone in LGBTQ fashion history is left unturned. Needless to say, fashion wouldn’t be the same without the queer eye. General admission. Museum is open 12pm-8pm, so you can show up at your leisure. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can’t be guaranteed. We need your card details to store the event information in "My Tickets," but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny. General admission.
