[C] Big Dance Theater’s Ich, Kürbisgeist
A time-bending pumpkin farming play with its own dialect
Sibyl Kempson wants to bring you Halloween as it once was, spooky and kind of inscrutable. Her play, performed by members of Big Dance Theater, features a made up language described as a mix between English, Swedish, German, and Sid Caesar. Don’t sweat it if something's lost in translation; the troupe knows how to tell a story through tone and movement alone. It’s part oral history, part folk tale with pissed-off pumpkins and puritanical time travelers adding their two cents. Paul Lazar directs. Best available seating allocated by the venue on arrival."The Big Dance ensemble is, as usual, terrific."
