Vamp + virgin: the two sides of Maria
Metropolis was one of the first pioneering sci-fi flicks to come out of Germany in 1927. The film is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and stars the mysterious Brigitte Helm. She plays a dual role in the movie – both as the angelic heroine Maria who's leading the underground slave revolution, but also the imposter robotic Maria who's undermining the rebellion. Set to a live score by Black Lodge, a bunch of experimental metal-heads, this dark tale just got more twisted. We're pumped.
