HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival: Footloose
The Kevin Bacon classic at the outdoor film festival
New York's most popular outdoor film screening series is back with more panache than ever. Entering its 23rd year, Bryant Park has been the premiere destination for film buffs on summer nights. It doesn't get more magical than watching those classic flicks under the stars in the middle of Midtown. In partnership with Bank of America, tonight get your dancing shoes on for the 1984 classic, Footloose. Kevin Bacon plays an out-of-place newcomer in a Midwestern town where dancing and rock music are illegal. Not one to be held back by rules, Bacon is determined to loosen everyone up. What follows is a teenage rebellion with rhythm, all served with a healthy dose of trashy teenage cheese. Watch the '80s classic on the big screen in Bryant Park. Popcorn included. "Footloose has managed to angry dance its way into a pantheon of immortal ’80s movies and our hearts." – Entertainment weekly "Footloose doesn't expect to be watched closely or taken seriously. It wants to fill the screen with catchy music and pretty kids, and this it certainly accomplishes." – New York Times Rating: PG. Runtime: 1 hour 40 minutes. Seating is available from 5pm. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. You need to be registered to store the event information in your profile, but rest assured, we won’t charge you anything.
