Classic cinema at the waterfront
Queens has more to offer than one may think. Long Island City's Hunger's Point Park is the newest to join the series of outdoor screenings throughout NYC. Through September, enjoy cinematic classics with the Empire State Building as a backdrop, making it the premier spot to watch Hollywood's favourite leading lady of cinema in the 1961 classic, Breakfast At Tiffany's. Audrey Hepburn will enchant you as Holly Golightly, a flighty young woman embroiled in a struggle to find true love and independence in the city that never sleeps. Based on Truman Capote's original novel, it's a beautiful snapshot of '60s New York. But, Audrey being Audrey, New York is merely a catwalk for her wonderful wardrobe: the orange coat and bucket hat combo she wears on her day out with Paul; the Burberry-style mac she wears to see Doc off at the bus station; and, of course, that dress. RIP, lovely Audrey. "Ditsy and delightful as ever – with charm enough to forgive it plenty." – Time Out “A completely unbelievable but wholly captivating flight into fancy composed of unequal dollops of comedy, romance, poignancy, funny colloquialisms and Manhattan's swankiest East Side areas captured in the loveliest of colors.” – The New York Times Rated: PG. Runtime: 1 hour 52 minutes. Arrive from 7pm to secure a good spot. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. You need to be registered to store the event information in your profile, but rest assured, we won’t charge you a penny.
"Glamorous, sophisticated, with more than a touch of the bizarre."
