Screening + Q&A with the documentary director Zachary Heinzerling
Cutie And The Boxer is a candid and touching portrayal of the 40-year marriage of Ushio Shinohara and his wife, Noriko, two struggling artists in NYC. Having emigrated from Japan in 1969, Ushio left his critical success in Tokyo in hopes of establishing a global artistic legacy in NYC. Sadly, Ushio’s appeal didn’t translate to an American audience and the film closely follows his four-decade struggle toward success while also documenting his relationship with his artist wife and her solo endeavors. Bonus: we're throwin' in a free drink to keep ya nice and hydrated. Cheers to that! Reserved seating. Over 21s only.
"A work of art to be cherished for capturing one of the most creative artist relationships in the past century."
