The daughter of music royalty performs her lo-fi acoustics
Yet another excuse to hop over to City Winery: the hypertalented Lucy Wainwright Roche. If her name is familiar it might be because the singer-songwriter is the spawn of folk music royalty, Loudon Wainwright III and Suzzy Roche of The Roches, or because she lent her pipes as backup singer for half-brother Rufus. It wasn’t long before she caught the performing bug, but she's got her own distinctive flair. Her style is less flamboyant than that of her family – all coy delivery and charm. Reserved barstool seating. Please note that conversation during the show is strongly discouraged. Seating is pre-assigned and family style, but sight lines are clear and sound is excellent. There is a full menu and bar available for extra cost. Seating type is subject to change without notice.
"[Lucy Wainwright Roche's] clear, steady voice feels like a beacon of sorts, slicing straight through the room."
