The jazz prodigy, singer + activist performs the hits

"A unique blend of jazz, Ethiopia, the San Francisco art scene and visceral poetry ; it paints pictures in your head as you listen."

You could be forgiven for mixing up Meklit’s voice with that of Joni Mitchell’s. The Ethiopian-born singer and activist is no stranger to being in the company of strong women; she gets tea with Nina Simone and sings duets with Norah Jones. Best of all, she’s just as relaxed with indie pop hits at SXSW and The Independent as she is with traditional tributes at The Hollywood Bowl. They don’t call her the modern queen of soul for nothing. Joy Ike will join. General admission. This event is all ages.
