Less is Moor in this adaptation of Shakespeare’s classicShakespeare in the park might have ended with the humidity, but limber up for an indoor staging of Othello. New York Shakespeare Exchange, who always put a contemporary spin on the minstrel’s tales, return with the familiar story of the honorable Moor who’s betrayed by his confidant. Their version swaps Venice for a municipal police precinct, but the themes of racism, love, and jealousy still ring true. The Bard would’ve approved, no doubt.
