When art meets the vacuum cleanerIn artistic circles, Pieter Schoolwerth's approach could be described as a compositional maelstrom in which figurative fragments and objects vanish into a wormhole of Photoshop-like effects and abstract flourishes – as if Stephen Hawking were channeling Francis Bacon or vice versa. In simple conversation, his work is simply weird (with the best possible connotations). His latest body of work deals with the duality of meaning of the work "suck" – an epiphany he had whilst cleaning his house with a subpar vacuum cleaner. Intriguing to say the least.
