A double bill of magical classics
Dell'Arte are serving up yet another operatic tour de force with a summer season of Shakespearean productions. Directed and choreographed by Christopher Caines, Henry Purcell's The Fairy-Queen is a masterful masque from 1692. The libretto is an adaptation of Midsummer Night's Dream composed into what experts agree is Purcell's finest theatre music. Sung in English and combined with an abridged version of a Midsummer Night's Dream itself, this is a classical way to enjoy a summer evening.
