100 Years Of The Piano In Film By James Pearson

I am the music man, I come down from your way + I can play…

Ever since the first public projections by the Lumière brothers in 1895, the piano has played a major role in cinema. Chances are, many of your favourite scores have been written and performed on the dynamic instrument. Join James Pearson, the newly inaugurated ESU artist in residence, as he talks and plays you through everything from Rachmaninoff and Nyman, to Gershwin and Liberace. Expect some cheeky reenactments of the pianist’s role in a silent movie, too. Seating is on a first come first served basis.
