Time Out says
They say nothing beats a classic. But this is taking it to the next level. Opera Rara and Britten Sinfonia are coming together to present Mercadante’s ‘Il Proscritto’ which is a pretty big deal, considering it’s the first full performance since its Naples premiere in 1842. That’s a long time ago. Carefully restored from its original manuscript, the story is a tragic one, spinning together lost love and political treachery all against the backdrop of Oliver Cromwell's rule. It’s sure to be a very special night for fans of the art form.
