What is it? An afternoon of talks by the nominees of the 2018 Wellcome Book Prize – exclusively reduced for Time Out. When is it? Sunday April 29 at 3pm. Why buy? If you haven’t heard of the literary platform 5x15, the clue’s in the name. The format is simple: five selected speakers get fifteen minutes each to speak on a variety of topics. And this year, the annual event at Cecil Sharp House is a very special one indeed, as well as showcasing five speakers – the five writers nominated for this year’s Wellcome Book Prize, it's hosted by TV star Rick Edwards. The Prize is a celebration of the myriad ways in which books touch upon the realms of health, medicine and illness – and writers can be nominated if they have written one in any category. The selection of nominees is particularly rich this year, with five of the writers being shortlisted for debut books.
