The show attempts to explain the situation surrounding Steven Avery, an American man repeatedly charged of crimes by his local police force, with very little evidence. After spending 18 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit, Avery is then arrested again for the rape of a young women. The programme follows the astounding revelations and bewildering runnings of that court case – in which shocking mistruths, misinformation, untruthful witnesses and much more are seen time and time again.
