Douglas Fairbanks as Robin Hood masterfully conquers the athletic stunts of the swashbuckler silent films, whilst managing to bring emotional depth to this defining role. Having written many scores for silent films such as Charlie Chaplin’s Shoulder Arms, Alfred Hitchcock’s Blackmail and Anthony Asquith’s Underground, Neil Brand’s score, conducted by Timothy Brock, provides a new richness and relatability to the film’s building tension and dark humour.
