Come behind the scenes and see what it takes to run the UK's largest jellyfish facility! April 2017 marks the launch of SEA LIFE London's newest exhibition... Ocean Invaders: Enter the World of Jellyfish. Spend the evening behind the scenes with Curator James Robson and find out all about these magnificent creatures and what it takes to look after them. With all of the money from ticket sales going to the SEA LIFE Trust, this fundraising event will allow you to learn about the fascinating world of Jellyfish whilst contributing to the exceptional work of the SEA LIFE Trust worldwide in protecting marine life. The event will consist of a presentation by James where he will talk about the exhibit, the species on display and the purpose of the zones. You will then be guided through the exhibition and taken behind the scenes to the Jellyfish quarantine facility where you will learn about the maintenance, culturing and realities of Jellyfish keeping. The evening will end with a Q&A session, giving you the chance to ask James about this exhibition and his work in the aquarium world. About the expert: James Robson is the Senior Curator at SEA LIFE London and one of the UK’s leading Jellyfish spokespeople. On a day-to-day basis James is responsible for overseeing all aspects of animal husbandry and his role involves developing research, overseeing the breeding programmes, supporting SEA LIFE’s conservation work and ensuring the creatures in the attraction both on display and behind the scenes are happy and healthy at all times. James is currently studying for a PhD in Jellyfish Swarms and Shark behaviour, enabling him to develop an in depth knowledge of these creatures and play a pivotal role in the development of SEA LIFE London’s latest experience – Ocean Invaders: Enter the World of Jellyfish, the largest jellyfish facility in the UK. With his vast knowledge across marine creatures and as a well-known member of the Zoo and Aquarium community, James now sits as the Chair of BIAZA (British and Irish association of Zoos and Aquariums) Aquarium Working Group, as well as being a committee member of the BIAZA reptile and amphibian working group.
