After visiting Sardinia with his wife in 1921, DH Lawrence wrote a fascinating account of his travels. Mark Cousins painstakingly retraces the playwright’s steps, armed only with a camcorder and an endless supply of questions. The film switches between Cousin’s experiences of trekking through Sardinia and DH Lawrence’s recollections of the Italian island. This good-humoured, intelligent film tackles everything from Catholicism to fascism, with Jarvis Cocker supplying the voice of DH Lawrence.
