Gareth Edwards’ 2010 debut Monsters turned heads for its ambition and sheer gustiness. Despite its low budget, the film’s special effects were genuinely stunning. This sequel sees director Tom Green expand on Monsters’ premise, which has now moved to the Middle East. The setting may have changed but the squid-like creatures who infected the first feature are back. Johnny Harris stars as Noah, the veteran who must fight off the invaders whilst dealing with local insurgents waging a vendetta of their own.
