The 1976 film was a classic in its own right, but The Town That Dreaded Sundown is completely reinvented in the hands of Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. Tranquil Texerkana is being threatened by a shadowy figure who has striking similarities with the Phantom Killer who terrorised the town decades earlier. It’s rare for a horror remake to improve on the original, but there's a strong case for claiming just that in this dark flick with a killer twist.
