The Goldberg Variations are widely considered to be one of the most important examples of the variation form. And we all know that Bach was pretty darn good anyways. Tonight, David Wright plays them authentically – on the harpsichord. Wright's won a bunch of lovely awards and toured the world over with ensembles such as Red Priest and London Concertante. He'll be performing a selection of complementary pieces alongside the Variations, all in a near-perfect venue.
The programme:
- Bach: Italian Concerto
- Handel: Suite in G Minor
- Scarlatti: Sonata in C Major K 159
- Scarlatti: Sonata in D
- Bach: Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue in D Minor
- Bach: Goldberg Variations
Unreserved seating.
