Living as a Pakistani in ‘70s England is arguably not the easiest way of life. Salford Chip shop owner George Khan (naturally known as “Ghengis” to his kids”) is determined to offer his children the best possible Muslim upbringing. However his British wife Ella, played by the award-winning Jane Horrocks, finds herself divided between her children’s free will and her marriage.
