East London Suffragettes: Beyond The Right To Vote

A fascinating talk on a fresh new work

Make your way down to Housmans Book Shop for a discussion of the new Sarah Jackson work, East London Suffragettes: Beyond The Right To Vote. The text discusses the work of the East London Federation Of Suffragettes, led by Sylvia Pankhurst, whose work went beyond the right to vote to struggle for improvements in the lives of women across the country. The work of the Federation (and 'our Sylvia', as she was fondly known by locals) deserves to be remembered; Jackson and Taylor’s book is filled with astonishing first-hand accounts and helps to bring this amazing story to life as its centenary approaches. This event is free. You need to be registered to book, but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny.
