Edge Of Sound: BBC Concert Orchestra + A Hawk And A Hacksaw

A musical collaboration that's like a journey to another world

Immerse yourself in the folk music and culture of Eastern Europe with this wonderful concert. You'll hear from the BBC Concert Orchestra, American folk duo A Hawk And A Hacksaw, and Balázs Unger – a master of the cimbalom (an amazing sounding instrument that's struck or plucked like an open piano). The music is evocative and communal, culminating in a joint piece by the BBC Concert Orchestra and A Hawk And A Hacksaw, written specifically for this collaboration by Jeremy Barnes. Other programme highlights include works by György Ligeti, Anghelus Dinicu, and Béla Bartók. Seating allocated on arrival. Pro tip: if you've got a bit of extra time, arrive at 6:15pm for a pre-concert performance from minimalist chamber-folk collective, Firefly Burning, in The Front Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
