Discover the fascinating and tragic story of an extraordinary woman
Emma Hamilton was one of the most famous international celebrities of her time and her life is the ultimate costume drama. Largely remembered as Admiral Nelson’s lover, she was in fact an extraordinary woman in her own right, having achieved much throughout her life, against the odds.
Her story is one of female power and achievement in a time when this was not the norm, it is also a story of love and loss.
This exhibition follows Emma’s life from rags to riches and back again. It is a collection of over 200 fascinating objects and paintings that tell her story, remembering her for her strengths and achievements and not just for those of the men in her life.
Emma Hamilton: Seduction & Celebrity is a moving experience which you will come away from feeling inspired by the life of this extraordinary woman.
The exhibition is in the National Maritime Museum, located in Greenwich. Make a day of it by wandering through beautiful Greenwich Park, vising the Queen’s House (free entry) then strolling around Greenwich Vintage Market.
