Step into Warhol’s world as Tom Verlaine (Television), Martin Rev (Suicide), Dean Wareham (Galaxie 500), Eleanor Friedberger (Fiery Furnaces) and Bradford Cox (Deerhunter) live score 15 of the artist’s previously unseen short films. Premiered at Brooklyn Academy of Music, each of the short film paints a portrait of a figure from that time – many of whom have left their mark on Western art and culture, from artist Marcel Duchamp to actress Edie Sedgewick and beat writers Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. Performing original scores to each film is a collection of musicians who continue to embody the spirit of that scene. Here they blur the line between visual, sonic and performance art – as happenings at Warhol’s studio and event space, The Factory did. Channelling the same sense of freedom, collaboration and experimentation in their music that Warhol brought to his art.
