Giselle is a haunting story of innocence and betrayal, a timeless tale of the redemptive power of love. Giselle, a young peasant girl, is in love with Albrecht, a Duke who hides from her his standing (as well as his engagement to another). When she discovers his deceit, she is driven to madness and dies of a broken heart.
The spirits of abandoned brides seek revenge, forcing men to dance to their death: will Giselle's love protect Albrecht from his fate? Mary Skeaping's production is a dramatic tour de force, with sublime choreography, excellent set-design and a haunting score from Adolphe Adam.
"All the power of the work comes through in this marvellous production. So too does the power of ballet itself" – Daily Telegraph
