Join acclaimed author Michael Morpurgo and Sanjar Qiam

Don't miss out again!

Having set up a temporary theatre of hope in the Calais refugee camp, Good Chance are delighted to be pitching their Dome on Festival Terrace at the Southbank Centre in London this summer. Sanjar Qiam brings his childhood memories of long days running kites down the dusty streets of Kabul to this workshop as part of Good Chance’s Encampment. Drawing on ancient Afghan methods and using the simplest materials, try your hand at building your own kite. But ultimate success is determined by the passion of the fliers and the whims of the wind… Additionally, special guest Michael Morpurgo – author of The Butterfly Lion and War Horse – talks about his book The Kites are Flying (Walker Books). Morpurgo’s story shows how children's hopes and dreams for peace and unity can fly higher than any wall built to divide communities and religions. Runtime: 4pm-5pm. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. We need your card details to store the event information in "My Tickets", but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny.
