Having set up a temporary theatre of hope in the Calais refugee camp, Good Chance are delighted to be pitching their Dome on Festival Terrace at the Southbank Centre in London this summer.
Five artists from Pan Intercultural Arts made two visits to the Calais refugee camp in early 2016. They went there in order to run Good Chance theatre workshops for the inhabitants of the camp.
Between them they had several decades of experience working with refugees and other conflict-affected and marginalised people, but that barely prepared them for what they met in the ‘Calais Jungle’. In the freezing cold, under the threat of approaching bulldozers, they worked with people to whom theatre was entirely new. With the unexpected and unpredictable as the only constants, they had to rethink their approach to creative workshops.
The five artists now want to share their experiences with you through words, actions, images and conversation, drawing you into an understanding of what it’s like to teach and to endure under such circumstances. The artists are Mita Pujara, Mojisola Adebayo, Debora Mina, Melanie Anouf and John Martin.
Runtime: 4:00pm-5:00pm. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. We need your card details to store the event information in "My Tickets", but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny.
