Good Chance's Encampment: You Are What You Play – A Games Barter

Play childhood games with Fortune, a group of young-adult refugees and migrants.

Having set up a temporary theatre of hope in the Calais refugee camp, Good Chance are delighted to be pitching their Dome on Festival Terrace at the Southbank Centre in London this summer. Fortune use the arts to build bridges between communities by encouraging confidence, trust and communication. They have gathered over 40 games from their childhoods, including running, singing, memory, party and board games. Having taught each other how to play them and thought about the similarities and differences between their respective games, they now invite you to join in. Come along and Fortune will teach you a game from one of their homelands, and talk about the memories it brings up. You can then teach them one of your own favourite childhood games in turn. Barter a game for a game, and reflect on the universality of play. Over 10s only. Runtime: 4:00pm-5:00pm. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. We need your card details to store the event information in "My Tickets", but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny.
