Impossible

The true story of Houdini vs Conan Doyle

Transport yourself from modern-day London to the 20s. To the time when Hungarian-American magician and escape artist Harry Houdini met celebrated British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle for the first time. The two men quickly became close associates, however Houdini was troubled by his new friend’s passion for mediumship and his fervent belief in life after death. When shown their miraculous feats, all Houdini could see was the kind of conjuring tricks he was already well-acquainted with. Impossible, the new play by Robert Khan and Tom Salinsky (writers of 2012’s Coalition and 2014’s Kingmaker) tells the unlikely, extraordinary and true story of what happened next. The play stars Alan Cox (A Voyage Round My Father, Young Sherlock Holmes) as Houdini and Phill Jupitus (Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Spamalot, The Producers) as Conan Doyle and the production is directed by multi-award-winning Hannah Eidinow. Please arrive on time as latecomers may not be admitted.
