Marc-André Hamelin brings his virtuosic piano playing to the Southbank Centre. He’s won international awards at the Carnegie Hall and Cannes. Tonight, he’s bringing to life Khachaturian's Piano Concerto, with sonorous swagger and sparkling melody. Also performed are Kalinnikov’s Symphony No.1 and Balakirev’s Islamey, Oriental Fantasy. Your conductor this evening is Osmo Vänskä. Seating allocated on arrival. Free pre-concert event in the Royal Festival Hall, 6.15pm-6.45pm. Latecomers may not be admitted.
