London Philharmonic Orchestra Pre-Concert Event: Shakespeare400

The decade during which Strauss composed his Macbeth overture was one of ferocious and spectacular creativity where Shakespeare’s Scottish play was concerned. In this cross arts exploration, Dr Lucy Munro of King’s College London will be joined by actors and musicians to explore two landmark productions of Macbeth through visual material, performed extracts and music, including Sarah Bernhardt’s controversially erotic portrayal of Lady Macbeth in 1884, and Ellen Terry’s embodiment of the character in 1888, which Sargent famously captured on canvas. Events lasts approximately 30 minutes. This event is free and entry is on a first come first served basis, so it can't be guaranteed. You need to be registered to store the event information in your profile, but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny. This does not entitle you to stay for the paid for concert that follows and you will have to vacate the auditorium once the 6pm talk finishes. If you have bought tickets to the paid event at 7:30pm, you will need to collect these tickets from the box office.
