Tonight, Petrencko conducts a classic assortment from Sergey Rachmaninov, Edward Elgar, and Hector Berlioz. Elgar’s Second Symphony was written with the intention of reflecting absolute joy, but in the end became much more emotionally complex – even rivalling the grandest Romantic scores. Prefaced by Berlioz’s Le Corsaire and Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini, this is sure to be a rapturous and lavish performance.
