LSFF Industry Monday Pass: Documentary Focus

London Short Film Festival Industry Sessions

This ticket will give you access to both Monday events: OPEN CITY SCHOOL MASTERCLASS: SHOOTING FOR DOCUMENTARY 14:00 HACKNEY ATTIC Filmmaker Isis Thompson, will discuss and demystify the process of shooting a documentary. Using raw footage from her own work, Thompson will discuss how camera work and shot selection affect the way audiences experience character and space within the frame. With clips from other filmmakers working in the industry today, Thompson will unpack a variety of differing shooting techniques and approaches: from the use of the Interrotron, to the three-shot interview, to the pros and cons of working with DoP. The session will cover all angles in pursuit of the perfect documentary shot. GUARDIAN DOCS PRESENTS: PITCHING SESSION 16:00 HACKNEY ATTIC The Guardian’s documentary commissioning strand is offering LSFF documentary filmmakers the chance to create a documentary of 20 minutes or under for one of the world’s most visited English language news websites. We’re looking for great original stories on contemporary global subjects. If you’ve got an idea for a short documentary that could work for the Guardian, please send an email to pitch@shortfilms.org.uk (with ‘Guardian’ on the subject) for a chance to pitch it live to Charlie Phillips, Head of Documentaries at the Guardian, during the session. For those who don’t want to pitch in, do join us for the event! The doors close 15 minutes after the event has started.
