Lulu's Back In Town…Don't miss her!

Return to the Source of Swing... Lucy Dixon has a habit of reinventing herself. Never content with the safe option, she has continually carved an eclectic career in theatre, music, performance art and dance. From her early days as a showgirl at the Lido de Paris, via the world of musical theatre in London's West End (Cats, Follies, Cabaret etc), to extensive periods touring the world with Stomp, she has gradually found her place as a solo artist living in Paris, at times writing and composing her own material. Her latest project is aptly titled 'Lulu's Back In Town', which pays homage to some of the artists from the 1930's & 40's who have inspired her greatly, from Fats Waller to Fred Astaire. With a retro semi-acoustic line up of rhythm guitar, double bass and solo guitar - a solid Parisian Manouche trio, and given her unique talents as a tap dancer and percussionist the result is an original collection of infectiously rhythmic jazz songs. This project is a testament to the golden era of swing with a modern twist. Lucy inevitably brings elements from all her previous experiences as a performer making her a captivating live artist. "To be able to combine the music with dance is a powerful and addictive feeling for me. Tap dance is so immediate. People love it! It has echoes of keeping warm on street corners in Harlem, to gliding effortlessly across marble floors. The element of tap dance enables me to really exchange ideas and communicate with the other musicians in the band, instead of just being the immobile singer in front who has to wait until the solo's are over!" This album is a testament to the golden era of swing with a modern twist. .
