Matthew Barley’s motto is "expect the unexpected". Not the usual vibe of a cellist, you might think, but when you see him in action it all makes sense. He’s playing music inspired by the Brazilian rainforest, by the likes of South American composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. Then, he’s switching it up with John Tavener’s The Protecting Veil, which makes for a moving finale.
