In Merchant of Venice, Antonio is far from the chivalrous gentleman he appears to be. Shylock is a man wronged, ridiculed and mistreated by society for no other reason than his Judaism. In this retelling of the story Shylock is a man acting out of pride and dignity and making a stand against a prejudiced society. Join us as we reexamine the motives behind this famous character and the anti-Semitism that plagues both the society he lives in and our own.
