No Body

A fully-immersive, multi-installation experience at Sadler's Wells

No Body is a first for Sadler's Wells: a fully immersive, multi-installation experience that combines all the elements of a successful dance performance – lighting, design, sound and projection, but without the physical presence of dancers. This is a unique opportunity for audiences to experience parts of the building not usually open to the public. The installation starts with LightSpace, Michael Hulls' installation which takes the audience on stage, bathing them in light and giving them an idea of what it feels like to be a performer. Created in collaboration with video designer Jan Urbanowski and composers Andy Cowton and Mukul, it pays homage to the humble tungsten bulb and explores the psychotropic way that light affects our mood. Audiences will then go on a music, sound and animation trail wearing headphones in the foyer spaces. Indelible features Nitin Sawhney's specially commissioned recordings and compositions and Yeast Culture's Nick Hillel's visual projections to create a sense of the indelible mark left by past vistors and performers. Lucy Carter’s Hidden installations are discovered around the building in unusual spaces. Along with composer Jules Maxwell, she takes inspiration from the excitement of theatre creation, animating spaces usually used by technicians, makers and designers on a daily basis. The evening also features two film installations by leading choreographers. Siobhan Davies and film maker David Hinton's The Running Tongue is made with sound artists, animators and 22 dance artists and features frames treated by each of the artists. Russell Maliphant presents Kairos, a triptych installation inspired by the film Erebus, which was created in collaboration with film directors Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones and originally commissioned by The Space. Sadler's Wells has been presenting theatrical productions for over 300 years. Constantly supporting the arts, they host a diverse programme of entertainment. Alongside theatre, they are world leaders in contemporary dance and they also provide a home for artists. All ticket prices for No Body are inclusive of any booking fees: YPlan will not charge you any additional amounts for your tickets. For your comfort and security, you may be subject to additional checks on your visit to London theatres. Your patience and understanding is appreciated while these take place. Valid ID required for ticket collection. Ticket sales are final and bookings cannot be amended, exchanged or refunded (unless of course the performance is cancelled). All listed offers are subject to availability and can be withdrawn at any time.
