Noise Orchestra: Drumming Workshops

Junk and found percussion workshops in Camden

The high profile Australian musician, educator and former star of the Spaghetti Western Orchestra, Graeme Leak, is offering ‘junk and found’ percussion workshops in Camden. Teaching rhythms borrowed from various world music traditions, this drumming workshop will go over African, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban styles. Graeme supplies all of the found object for the orchestra including: metal and plastic drums, wooden boxes, fuel tanks and tin cans. These, alongside Graeme’s collection of real instruments – drums, shakers, cowbells and whistles – combine to make the unique funky-junk sound of the Noise Orchestra. Participants can bring their own to the mix real and found, percussion and wind or even strings and brass; all are welcome. Ticket types: Beginner tickets are for anyone who would like to have a go regardless of whether they have picked up an instrument before, while Advanced are for those with some musical or performance training. Dancers and actors will find the classes useful and relevant to their practice.
