Objection Overruled + Comrades In Conscience

A talk from two authors to mark International Conscientious Objectors' Day

A whole 100 years since the outbreak of WWI, David Boulton and Cyril Pearce will be at Housmans to discuss their respective historical studies on the Conscientious Objectors. Boulton's Objection Overruled is widely regarded as the de facto account of the battle to establish the rights of conscientious objection in military service; Pearce's Comrades In Conscience innovatively focuses only on Huddersfield, otherwise known as "the hotbed of pacifism" due to its unique movements. General admission. This event is free but ticketed. We need your card details to store the event information in "My Tickets", but rest assured, we won't charge you a penny. There's a wine reception at 6:30pm; talks start at 7pm.
