A talk from two authors to mark International Conscientious Objectors' DayA whole 100 years since the outbreak of WWI, David Boulton and Cyril Pearce will be at Housmans to discuss their respective historical studies on the Conscientious Objectors. Boulton's Objection Overruled is widely regarded as the de facto account of the battle to establish the rights of conscientious objection in military service; Pearce's Comrades In Conscience innovatively focuses only on Huddersfield, otherwise known as "the hotbed of pacifism" due to its unique movements.
