Ophelias Zimmer

A new work exploring Ophelia, freed from Hamlet

Three of the UK’s most acclaimed theatre artists challenge our cultural images of Ophelia in art and on stage, placing one of the most sidelined women in English literature at the centre of the narrative. Directed by Katie Mitchell, designed by Chloe Lamford, text by Alice Birch. The production is a major collaboration between the Royal Court and the Schaubühne Berlin and opened in Berlin in December 2015. It'll touch down at London's Royal Court for an extremely limited run of five days only. The Royal Court Theatre is internationally renowned for energetically cultivating undiscovered, new and established writers. Known as the writers’ theatre, it opened on 8 May 1956 under George Devine who aimed to challenge and stimulate British playwriting and theatre. In celebration of its 60th year, the Royal Court has curated an awesome programme of original theatre for 2016. Recommended for ages 14 and over. Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes, without an interval. Performed in German, with English surtitles. All ticket prices for Ophelias Zimmer are inclusive of booking fees: YPlan will not charge you any additional amounts for your tickets. When booking tickets, you can pick your seat from the seatmap once you've selected a date. For your comfort and security, you may be subject to additional checks on your visit to London theatres. Your patience and understanding is appreciated while these take place. Valid ID required for ticket collection. West End theatre ticket sales are final and bookings cannot be amended, exchanged or refunded (unless of course the performance is cancelled). All listed offers are subject to availability and can be withdrawn at any time.
