Composed at just 27 years of age, Stabat Mater was to be Pergolesi’s final work. The Stabat is steeped in emotion and infused with the pain that Pergolesi must have been enduring as tuberculosis took its toll. The Italian composer’s magnum opus is to be performed at St John's Wood Church alongside stirring works from Vivaldi.
