Pharoahe Monch is a very exciting artist. As likely to provoke thought as he is a mosh pit, he's truly part of a rare breed: an underground MC speaking the truth through real hip-hop. The MC (hailing from Queens, New York) has been around since the early '90s when he was one half of seminal hip-hop duo Organized Konfusion, who put out the classic album Stress: The Extinction Agenda. As a solo artist he has the impeccable Internal Affairs under his belt, and can count Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Busta Rhymes, Common and Erykah Badu among the artists that he has worked with. His 2014 album PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) details his battles with the record industry and against severe depression. Monch narrates as an independent artist weary from the war against the industry machine and through the struggle of the black male experience in America and triumphs as a lyrically talented, politically conscious rapper with an inspiring message during a time of chain-swanging trap-pop and braggalicious dance rap.
