Pillow Cinema: Amy

A tribute to a legend

The Pillow Cinema have made it their mission to turn your movie nights into unforgettable experiences. After a glorious summer of screening s they now take their magic to the beautiful Sutton House, a stunning Tudor home run by The National Trust in the heart of Hackney. Filled with oak-panelled rooms and charming original features, it’s the perfect setting for cosying up with a movie and a loved one this winter. Kapadia's documentary follows the six-time Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse, showcasing previously unseen archive footage to tell the London performer's tragic story in her own words. As riveting as it is sad, Amy is a powerfully honest look at the twisted relationship between art and celebrity and the lethal spiral of addiction. Not to be missed. "It's Amy's words, her music, her voicemails, her home videos, her friends, her family, her tormentors, and her timeless incandescence. Look, listen and weep." – Rolling Stone "What makes Asif Kapadia's documentary a devastating don’t-miss dazzler — like the lady herself — is the way he lays out her story without editorialising." – Rolling Stone Certificate 15. Runtime: 2 hours 8 minutes. Doors to Sutton House open half an hour before the event. The film will start at the advertised time, and no trailers will be shown in advance. The fatboy bean bags are huge, and seat one person spaciously or two people snuggled up. If lounging's not really your thing, you can also grab a more traditional seat. Either way, there'll be blankets and cushions available for all.
