Why go?

Born and bred right here in London town, grime is one of our most prized recent exports. There was Wiley, Skepta, Kano and Dizzee Rascal – and the latter was telling us to fix up, look sharp. Now comes ‘Poet in da Corner’ at Royal Court Theatre, a coming-of-age story inspired by Dizzee’s seminal album ‘Boy in da Corner’.

In a strict Mormon household in East London, 13 year old Debris' life changed when she was introduced to grime. From feeled muted by dyslexia to spitting the power of her words; from being conflicted about her sexuality to finding liberation to explore; from feeling alone to being given the greatest gift. ‘Poet in da Corner’ puts music under the microscope and deciphers how exactly it changes us. Oh – and to embrace the genre's community spirit, we're offering 40 percent off tickets. Peng tings.
